Telangana High Court Expresses Anger Once Again Over HYDRA

The Telangana High Court has once again expressed its displeasure over the actions of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HYDRA). The court stated that government lands can only be protected if illegally constructed buildings of influential individuals are also demolished. It emphasized that merely demolishing unauthorized constructions by the economically weaker sections is not sufficient.

A petition was filed in the High Court regarding the notices issued by the Rajendranagar Tahsildar to homeowners in the vicinity of the Mir Alam Tank. During the hearing, the court questioned HYDRA on why encroachments in Durgam Cheruvu and Miyapur lakes were not being removed.

While asserting that protecting lakes is important, the High Court also reiterated that the law must treat everyone equally. It remarked that if any constructions around Mir Alam Tank are on government land, appropriate action should be taken.
