Jayashankar Agricultural University Set to Issue Notice to IAS Officer Smita Sabharwal

Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University is preparing to issue a notice to IAS officer Smita Sabharwal following objections raised by the audit department regarding funds used for vehicle rentals. According to sources, the university authorities have decided to proceed with the notice in response to the audit concerns.
Reports indicate that the notice will be issued within two days, directing Smita Sabharwal to return the funds allocated for vehicle rentals. Between 2016 and March 2024, during her tenure as Additional Secretary in the Chief Minister's Office (CMO), she received approximately ₹61 lakh for vehicle rental expenses over a period of 90 months. Officials have stated that further action will be taken based on legal consultations.
