SC Directs YSRCP Accused in TDP Office Attack to Approach Trial Court

The Supreme Court has rejected a plea by YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leaders accused in the attack on the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) office in Gannavaram, refusing to interfere with the Andhra Pradesh High Court's orders.

Earlier, the accused YSRCP leaders had approached the Andhra Pradesh High Court seeking anticipatory bail. However, the High Court dismissed their petitions and directed them to approach the trial court instead. In response, 33 accused individuals challenged this decision in the Supreme Court.

During the hearing, the Supreme Court bench made it clear that it would not intervene in the matter and upheld the High Court’s directive for the accused to approach the trial court. The bench, however, granted a temporary relief by allowing two weeks for the accused to approach the trial court and directed the state government not to take any immediate coercive action against them during this period.

Justice Vikram Nath, who presided over the hearing, emphasized that the Supreme Court would not examine the merits of the case at this stage.

Notably, the case involves the arrest of associates of former MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi by the police. Since allegations have also been made against Vamsi, he has been pursuing anticipatory bail as well. Given these developments, the Supreme Court's ruling has gained significant importance in the ongoing legal proceedings.
