Telangana Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao stated that the Congress government implemented the farm loan waiver within a year of coming to power with the intention of alleviating the hardships faced by farmers during the ten-year rule of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). He asserted that just as land and seeds are interconnected, the Congress Party shares a similar bond with farmers.
Criticizing the previous BRS government, Tummala Nageswara Rao said that despite announcing a ₹1 lakh loan waiver, it was never implemented in one go. As a result, he alleged that farmers were burdened with ₹11,145 crore in debt. He further claimed that under the BRS government, even the Rythu Bandhu scheme was not disbursed on time during crop seasons. In contrast, he stated that the Congress-led government firmly believes that the nation's prosperity depends on the well-being of farmers. He highlighted that 35% of the state budget has been allocated to agriculture and allied sectors.
The minister emphasized that the government successfully implemented the bonus for paddy as promised. To provide real security to farmers, he said that schemes like Rythu Bharosa and Indiramma Athmiya Bharosa have been introduced. He added that the current government is working to bring stability to the agriculture sector, which he alleged was left in disarray by the previous administration.
Tummala Nageswara Rao stated that the government is working with sincerity to empower farmers. He also criticized the opposition, claiming that they are unable to digest the welfare programs implemented by the Congress government and are therefore making baseless allegations.
