Andhra Pradesh High Court Adjourns Hearing on YS Jagan's Quash Petition

The Andhra Pradesh High Court has adjourned the hearing on a quash petition filed by YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, seeking the dismissal of a defamation case against him. Advocate Siddharth Luthra, representing Minister Ponguru Narayana, requested the court for additional time to file a counter in response to Jagan Mohan Reddy's petition. Meanwhile, Jagan Mohan Reddy's counsel, former Advocate General Sriram, argued that repeated requests for adjournments were being made and urged the court to conduct a regular hearing on the matter. Following these arguments, the High Court postponed the next hearing by three weeks.

The defamation case stems from a news report that alleged former Municipal Administration Minister Ponguru Narayana played a role in changes made to the alignment of the Amaravati Inner Ring Road. Claiming that the publication of these reports had damaged his reputation, Narayana filed a defamation suit in the Vijayawada Special Court for People's Representatives. The court issued multiple summonses to Jagan Mohan Reddy to appear for the hearings, but he did not attend. Subsequently, Jagan Mohan Reddy moved the High Court, seeking to have the case quashed.
