Team India Former Pacer Varun Aaron Retires from Cricket

Former Indian fast bowler Varun Aaron has announced his retirement from all formats of cricket. He revealed his decision through a special post on Instagram, where he expressed gratitude for his two-decade-long journey in the sport.

"Over the last 20 years, I have lived and breathed fast bowling. Today, with immense gratitude and rich experience, I officially announce my retirement from all forms of cricket. Fast bowling has always been my first love, and though I am stepping away from the field, I will always remain connected to it," Aaron wrote in his post.

Varun Aaron first came into the limelight during the 2010-11 Vijay Hazare Trophy. At the age of 21, he impressed everyone with his ability to bowl at speeds exceeding 150 km/h. Representing India, Aaron played nine Test matches and nine ODIs. His last appearance for the national side was in November 2015 during a match against South Africa in Bengaluru. Over his international career, he claimed a total of 29 wickets.

In domestic cricket, Aaron played 88 List-A matches, taking 141 wickets at an average of 26.47 and an economy rate of 5.44. In T20 cricket, he featured in 95 matches, taking 93 wickets at an economy rate of 8.53. He also had a notable stint in the Indian Premier League (IPL), playing across nine seasons. Aaron represented franchises such as Delhi Daredevils, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Gujarat Titans.
