Prime Minister Modi Betrayed Andhra Pradesh: YS Sharmila

Andhra Pradesh Congress President YS Sharmila alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi betrayed the people of Andhra Pradesh by failing to fulfill key promises made during the state’s bifurcation. She criticized Modi for not addressing vital issues during his recent visit to Visakhapatnam, accusing him of breaking the assurances given to the state.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi stabbed the people of Andhra Pradesh in the back by failing to honor the promise of granting special category status. During his visit to Visakhapatnam, he did not even mention a word about the unfulfilled bifurcation promises. There was no statement regarding Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, its privatization, or the funding for special packages for Uttarandhra and Rayalaseema. Additionally, there was no clarity on the Kadapa steel plant,” Sharmila said in a tweet.

She further criticized the alliances formed by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Jana Sena with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), questioning the legitimacy of these partnerships. “If Chandrababu’s relationship with Modi can be termed legitimate, then Jagan’s relationship with the BJP is an illicit one. Jagan, who came to power with the support of marginalized sections, is now betraying the ideals of YS Rajasekhara Reddy,” she added.

Sharmila asserted that her father, the late YS Rajasekhara Reddy, had always opposed the BJP’s communal politics. “Jagan claims to be YSR’s heir, but he is aligning with the BJP. Among YSR’s successors, I am the only one who truly opposes the BJP. The Congress Party is the only political force capable of fighting against BJP’s anti-people policies in the state. If we want to safeguard our nation, Congress is indispensable,” she stated.
