Festive Rush Begins: Travelers Head Home for Sankranti Celebrations

As the Sankranti festival approaches, a festive atmosphere has taken hold across the Telugu-speaking states. With educational institutions declaring holidays, people are heading to their hometowns. Telugu families residing in cities like Hyderabad and Bengaluru are setting off on journeys to celebrate the festival in their native places. Consequently, bus stands and railway stations in Andhra Pradesh have become heavily crowded.

Similar scenes were witnessed in Vijayawada, where Nehru Bus Station and the city’s railway station were overwhelmed with large numbers of travelers. A significant number of people from Hyderabad were seen arriving in Vijayawada, with many of them continuing their journeys to coastal districts and North Andhra. Given the surge in passengers, officials have decided to operate special buses from Vijayawada to various destinations.

Authorities have arranged 114 additional bus services from Vijayawada to different regions. They clarified that no extra charges will be levied for these special buses. Meanwhile, the railway department has also announced special trains to manage the increased passenger traffic during the festive season.
