Hyderabad’s IT Corridor Flyovers to Shut for New Year Eve Safety
The Cyberabad Police have announced restrictions in anticipation of New Year celebrations. On December 31, starting from 10 PM until 5 AM on January 1, flyovers in the IT corridor of Hyderabad will remain closed. This measure aims to ensure public safety and smooth traffic management during the celebrations.
Heavy vehicles will be restricted on the Outer Ring Road, except for those heading to the airport. The Cyberabad Commissionerate has installed special surveillance cameras to monitor traffic violations. Officials warned of strict action against offenses like signal jumping and rash driving. Additionally, traffic police will conduct drunk driving checks to curb any untoward incidents.
Pub and bar owners have been advised to arrange private vehicles and drivers for patrons consuming alcohol during the celebrations.
Separately, the Telangana Four-Wheelers Association has announced free travel services on New Year’s Eve. They will deploy 500 cars and 250 cabs to ensure the safe commute of revelers.
Changes to Metro Services
In light of New Year’s festivities, the timings of Hyderabad Metro Rail have been extended. L&T Metro Rail stated that metro services will operate until 12:30 AM on New Year’s Eve. The last metro train will depart from the respective terminal stations on all corridors at 12:30 AM.
