Manmohan Singh's Funeral Tomorrow; Central and Cong Leadership Cancel Events to Honor Former PM

Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who played a pivotal role in reshaping India’s economy, passed away yesterday evening while undergoing treatment at AIIMS, Delhi. His mortal remains are currently placed at his residence on Motilal Nehru Marg. Tomorrow, his body will be kept at the AICC headquarters for public homage before the funeral ceremonies take place.

As a mark of respect for Manmohan Singh, the nation has declared seven days of mourning. The central government has canceled all official programs today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to chair a cabinet meeting at 11 AM in Delhi. The Congress Party has also suspended all official events.

Born on September 26, 1932, in Gah, Punjab (now in Pakistan), Manmohan Singh earned a doctorate in Economics from Oxford University. He served as Chairman of the Planning Commission and Economic Advisor to the Government of India. Notably, he was the Finance Minister in P.V. Narasimha Rao’s cabinet, where he introduced groundbreaking economic reforms.
