A tragic incident unfolded in the city on Monday when a young medical student pursuing higher studies ended her life.
Sravani (22), a first-year postgraduate student at Andhra Medical College (AMC), was found dead at her rented accommodation in Chinawaltair under the Three Town police station limits.
Originally from Hyderabad, Sravani had come to Visakhapatnam to pursue her PG studies at AMC. On Monday morning, she was found hanging from a ceiling fan in her room.
Upon receiving information, police rushed to the spot. A team led by SI Shakuntala examined the scene and registered a case. Police said the reasons behind the suicide are yet to be ascertained and that investigations are underway from all angles.
The body was shifted to the King George Hospital (KGH) mortuary for postmortem examination.
