Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu served as the chief guest at the inauguration of ‘The Earth Center – Vista Spaces’, a premium commercial office complex in Whitefield, Bengaluru. He jointly inaugurated the building with Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, Naidu recalled his role in developing Cyberabad during the undivided Andhra Pradesh and said God has now given him the opportunity to build another fine city in the form of Amaravati. He stated that Amaravati is being shaped as a future-ready, environment-friendly city that balances nature, technology, and modern infrastructure.
From Grey Growth to Green Growth
Naidu called for a global shift from “grey growth” to “green growth.” “The world must now move away from concrete jungles and think about environment-friendly constructions. Development should not stop, but it must not harm the environment either. We need to progress by balancing both,” he said.
He noted that for decades urban expansion has relied on grey infrastructure and stressed the urgent need for green growth, circular growth, and regenerative growth. He urged the construction of smart, resource-efficient buildings instead of resource-intensive ones.
Praising The Earth Center, Naidu said the project was designed keeping current environmental challenges in mind and represents the future of buildings. He appreciated the use of recycled terracotta and other materials that harmoniously blend nature, technology, and modern workspaces.
Environmental Protection is Everyone’s Responsibility
Warning that climate change is not a future problem but a present crisis, Naidu called upon every individual to take responsibility for environmental protection. He advocated adopting a ‘net-zero’ approach in building construction and giving top priority to solar power.
“Every rooftop can become a power plant. Every drop of water can be reused. Every waste can be turned into a resource. Protecting water and soil is equal to creating wealth,” he remarked. He added that converting waste into compost and following reuse practices are essential for achieving Swachh Bharat, Swachh Karnataka, and Swachh Andhra Pradesh.
Amaravati – An Eco-Friendly City
Drawing a parallel with zero-budget natural farming in agriculture, Naidu said the same spirit is needed in urban development. He revealed that Andhra Pradesh is planning approximately 165 GW of renewable energy capacity and will be a key contributor to India’s national target of 500 GW of green energy by 2030. With this vision, Amaravati is being developed as a fully environment-friendly city.
Naidu specially congratulated the Vista Spaces team and Venkataramanan Associates for designing the project while keeping people’s needs and nature conservation in mind.
