For the First Time in IPL History: Chahal's Brilliance Secures Multiple Records
Star spinner Yuzvendra Chahal played a crucial role in securing this improbable win for PBKS. When KKR was confidently placed at 62 for 2, Chahal’s four-wicket haul dealt a severe blow to the batting side. He dismissed captain Ajinkya Rahane, Raghuvanshi, Rinku Singh, and Ramandeep Singh. In his allotted four overs, Chahal conceded only 28 runs while taking four key wickets, earning him the Player of the Match award.
With this exceptional performance, Yuzvendra Chahal also added several significant records to his name in the IPL. By taking four wickets in this match, Chahal equaled Sunil Narine’s record of claiming four wickets in an innings eight times, placing both bowlers at the top in this category. Additionally, he became the highest wicket-taker against Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL history. In 23 matches against KKR, Chahal has taken 33 wickets at an average of 20.75 and an economy rate of 7.96, surpassing Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s previous record of 32 wickets.
Chahal has also crossed the 210-wicket mark in the IPL. With 211 wickets from 166 matches at an average of 22.73 and an economy rate of 7.91, he remains the only bowler in the tournament’s history to have surpassed 200 wickets. His best bowling figures are 5 for 40.
