IPL-2025 Grandly Kicks Off: RCB win toss and elect to bowl first against KKR

The Indian Premier League (IPL) has returned to deliver top-notch cricket entertainment to fans. IPL-2025 began today, with the 18th season’s opening match held at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The defending champions, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), are facing off against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

RCB won the toss and opted to bowl, putting KKR to bat first. By the end of six overs, KKR had scored 60 runs for the loss of one wicket. Quinton de Kock, the explosive opener, was dismissed for just four runs by Josh Hazlewood. Currently, captain Ajinkya Rahane (39* off 16 balls) and opener Sunil Narine (17* batting) are at the crease. Rahane is playing aggressively, having hit five fours and three sixes so far.

Earlier, a grand opening ceremony was held at Eden Gardens. KKR co-owner and Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan hosted the event. The ceremony featured captivating dance performances by Disha Patani and musical performances by Shreya Ghoshal and Karan Aujla, thrilling the audience.
