Ravichandran Ashwin Thanks MS Dhoni for an Unexpected Gift

Ravichandran Ashwin, known for his fighting spirit as an off-spin all-rounder, has been a key figure in Indian cricket. Despite retiring from international cricket, Ashwin will continue to entertain fans through the Indian Premier League (IPL). In the upcoming 18th season of the IPL, he will be playing for Chennai Super Kings (CSK), a team based in his home state of Tamil Nadu.
Ashwin considers this opportunity a special gift, and he expressed his gratitude to cricket legend Mahendra Singh Dhoni for it. Reflecting on the journey, he shared an interesting experience.
"I played my 100th Test match in Dharamshala, where the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) organized a special event and presented me with a memento. However, I was disappointed that Dhoni was not there, as I had hoped to receive the memento from his hands. At that moment, I even wondered if that would be my last match," Ashwin said.
"But later, Dhoni gave me an unexpected gift—he brought me back to Chennai Super Kings. It was because of Dhoni that I got this opportunity to play for CSK again. I sincerely thank him for that. At this stage of my career, I couldn't have asked for a better gift," he added.
