Kamal Haasan, Ajith, Nayanthara... Who's Next?

Film stars are often affectionately addressed by their fans with special titles that reflect their on-screen persona. In Tollywood, Chiranjeevi is known as "Megastar," Nandamuri Balakrishna as "Yuva Ratna," Nagarjuna as "Yuva Samrat," and Venkatesh as "Victory." Younger actors are also given titles such as "Young Tiger," "Icon Star," "Global Star," and "Rebel Star," based on their image. Similarly, actresses are also bestowed with special titles by their fans—Rashmika Mandanna is called the "National Crush," while Nayanthara has long been known as the "Lady Superstar."
However, some actors have recently expressed their discomfort with such titles. Prominent Tamil actor Kamal Haasan recently issued an official statement requesting that neither the media nor his fans refer to him as "Ulaganayagan" (Universal Hero). He emphasized that he prefers to be addressed simply as Kamal Haasan, as it fosters a sense of closeness and authenticity.
Following Kamal Haasan, actor Ajith also made a similar request. Through a press note, he stated that he no longer wished to be called "Kadhal Mannan" (King of Romance), as he found it uncomfortable. He urged his fans, the media, and the film industry to refrain from using the title before his name.
Now, actress Nayanthara has joined this trend. On Tuesday, she released an official statement asking people to stop addressing her as "Lady Superstar." While she acknowledged that the title given by her fans was priceless and made her happy, she stated that she prefers to be called simply Nayanthara. In her statement, she expressed her deep love for cinema and highlighted how the film industry unites people.
With such declarations coming in succession from leading actors in Kollywood, speculation is growing about who might be next to issue a similar request.
