Kannadigas Express Outrage Over Rashmika Mandanna’s Recent Comment

Actress Rashmika Mandanna continues to dominate the film industry with successive hits in both North and South Indian cinemas. After delivering a blockbuster with Pushpa: The Rule in Telugu, the Karnataka-born actress recently scored another major success with Chhava in Bollywood. However, her comments during the promotions of the film have sparked controversy.
During a promotional event for Chhava, Rashmika stated, “I came from Hyderabad. Seeing the love and support from the audience here makes me very happy.” This remark quickly went viral and triggered criticism in Karnataka. Many Kannadigas took offense, questioning why she did not acknowledge her hometown, Virajpet, in Kodagu district. Social media was flooded with posts demanding to know when Rashmika became a Hyderabadi, given that she originally hails from Karnataka.
This controversy adds to the existing frustration among Kannada audiences, as Rashmika has not acted in a Kannada film for a long time. Rashmika, who began her career in Sandalwood with Kirik Party alongside Rakshit Shetty, later transitioned to Telugu cinema with Chalo and went on to gain massive popularity. She has since built a strong presence in Bollywood with films like Pushpa and Animal, further solidifying her pan-Indian appeal. Now, with Chhava becoming another hit, her stardom continues to rise.
