Supreme Court Grants Major Relief to Mohan Babu

The Supreme Court has granted significant relief to veteran actor Mohan Babu. He had been charged with attempted murder in connection with an alleged attack on a journalist. Seeking anticipatory bail, Mohan Babu had initially approached the Telangana High Court, which rejected his plea. Following this, he challenged the high court’s decision in the Supreme Court. After hearing his petition, the Supreme Court granted him anticipatory bail.
The incident in question occurred on December 10, 2024, at Mohan Babu’s residence in Jalpalli, Hyderabad, where he allegedly attacked a journalist with a microphone. The victim filed a complaint with the Pahadishareef police, leading to the registration of a case against Mohan Babu.
During the case proceedings, Mohan Babu informed the Supreme Court that he did not intentionally attack the journalist. He claimed that the incident stemmed from ongoing family disputes, which had resulted in multiple complaints being filed against each other. He also expressed his willingness to offer compensation to the affected journalist.
Mohan Babu's family has been embroiled in conflicts for some time. He and his younger son, Manchu Manoj, have filed complaints against each other. During the Sankranti festival, a tense situation unfolded at Mohan Babu University in Tirupati, where bouncers from both sides reportedly clashed. Eventually, with police permission, Manoj was able to enter the campus and pay respects at the graves of his grandparents before leaving.
