Andhra Deputy Speaker Raghurama to File Complaint Over Alleged CID Corruption

Andhra Pradesh Assembly Deputy Speaker Raghurama Krishnam Raju appeared before the Guntur court today and provided his testimony in the custodial torture case. Speaking to the media afterward, he alleged that the previous government had appointed Kamepalli Tulasibabu, a key accused in the case, as a CID legal assistant and paid him a fee of ₹48 lakh.

He stated that Tulasibabu was appointed to handle 12 CID cases in the High Court, as mentioned in official records. However, he pointed out that criminal cases of the CID do not undergo trial in the High Court. He alleged that this appointment was in violation of regulations and served as evidence of a connection between Tulasibabu and the then CID Chief, Sunil Kumar.

Raghurama Krishnam Raju further claimed that Tulasibabu registered with the Bar Council only in October 2021, yet he was appointed as a CID legal assistant in 2020, before he was even qualified to practice as a lawyer. He questioned how an ineligible individual was given such a position and paid a substantial amount. Stating that this appointment raised serious concerns, he announced that he would write to the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) regarding the matter.
