Veteran filmmaker K. Raghavendra Rao has praised Naga Chaitanya's latest film Thandel, calling it an exceptional cinematic experience. Sharing his thoughts on social media, he expressed admiration for the film, particularly its romantic narrative and execution.

"It's been a long time since I've seen such a wonderful love story like Thandel. Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi delivered outstanding performances. The story and its backdrop are adventurous. The director's attention to shot-making is commendable. Kudos to Geetha Arts. To sum it up in one line, this is a director’s film!" Raghavendra Rao wrote on Twitter.

Thandel, a romantic action thriller, marks a significant comeback hit for Naga Chaitanya after a long time. The actor himself acknowledged this during media interactions, saying, "It's been quite a while since I last heard the word ‘hit.’"

The film is set against the backdrop of a true story. It revolves around fishermen from Srikakulam district who, while out at sea, get captured by the Pakistan Navy. They are imprisoned in Pakistan for two years, and the narrative unfolds around the struggles faced by these fishermen and their families during this period.

Naga Chaitanya delivers a compelling performance as Raju, the courageous leader of the fishermen, while Sai Pallavi portrays his love interest Satya with remarkable emotional depth. Certain scenes have reportedly left audiences in tears, with viral social media clips showcasing emotional reactions from theatergoers.
