Director Shafi Passes Away Following Cardiac Arrest, Malayalam Film Industry in Mourning

The Malayalam film industry is reeling from the loss of prominent filmmaker Shafi, who passed away on Sunday at the age of 56 due to a cardiac arrest. Shafi had suffered a heart attack on January 16, after which he was admitted to a hospital by his family. Despite being under intensive treatment on a ventilator, doctors confirmed that Shafi breathed his last on Sunday.
Shafi made his debut in the Malayalam film industry with One Man Show and went on to direct over 50 films during his illustrious career. He gained immense popularity with his directorial works, including Kalyanaraman, Pulival Kalyanam, Thommanum Makkalum, Two Countries, Children’s Park, and Sherlock Toms. Shafi’s most recent film, Anandam Paramanandam, was released in theaters in 2022.
Shafi’s passing has left a deep void in the Malayalam film fraternity, with many actors, colleagues, and fans mourning the loss of one of the industry’s prolific storytellers.
