During That Time, Jayalalithaa Faced Financial Difficulties: Director K Bapayya
Renowned filmmaker K Bapayya, known for delivering a series of hits in Telugu and Hindi cinema, recently shared several insights during an interview with 'Suman TV.' Having collaborated with prominent stars and actresses of his era, Bapayya reflected on his experiences and industry relationships.
In the interview, he remarked, “Actors like Sobhan Babu and Krishna were true gentlemen. Both were extremely patient and professional. Once their portions were completed, they would leave the sets without delay.”
Speaking about his favorite actresses, K Bapayya said, “Initially, I admired Zeenat Aman’s acting. Later, I appreciated the performances of Hema Malini and Sridevi. I worked on the most films with Sridevi.”
Discussing Jayalalithaa, he shared, “By the time I transitioned to directing, Jayalalithaa had fewer acting opportunities. She was facing a decline in her career even in Tamil cinema. Her last film was produced in Telugu by D. Ramanaidu, but it did not perform well at the box office.”
He further elaborated, “During the period when she wasn’t receiving film offers, she faced financial difficulties. It’s unclear what happened to her earnings up to that point. Sobhan Babu would assist her to some extent. In such challenging circumstances, she decided to rent out her house for film shoots. I, too, visited her house once for a movie shoot. Later, as everyone knows, she entered politics and rose to become the Chief Minister.”
