Sridevi Faced Grave Injustice: Director K. Bapayya

K. Bapayya, a celebrated filmmaker known for delivering consecutive hits in both Telugu and Hindi cinema, recently reflected on his illustrious career and shared several insights during an interview with a YouTube channel. Bapayya, whose filmography includes major Telugu hits like Naa Desam, Soggadu, Mande Gundelu, and Mundadugu, spoke candidly about his journey and experiences in the film industry.

"Very few directors from the South have managed to establish themselves in Bollywood. However, I succeeded in delivering back-to-back hits there. Star heroes would often seek my advice about their other projects. On set, I was entirely focused on my work, which sometimes intimidated heroines from even requesting breaks. Although Rekha was my first heroine in Hindi, Sridevi worked with me on about 14 films during her career," he recalled.

Touching upon Sridevi’s life, Bapayya highlighted her close bond with her mother during her Telugu cinema days and later with Rekha in Bollywood. "Sridevi often sought Rekha's guidance when she transitioned to Bollywood, and they shared a good friendship. At one point, Sridevi married Mithun Chakraborty, but he kept it under wraps, possibly considering her career. Later, she married Boney Kapoor. Some believe her death was unnatural, and I feel Sridevi was subjected to a lot of injustice," Bapayya remarked.
