Why Are Maha Kumbh Mela Scenes Featured in ‘Akhanda-2’?

Nandamuri Balakrishna’s much-anticipated film Akhanda-2 is generating significant buzz among audiences. Directed by Boyapati Srinu, the film is the latest collaboration between the actor-director duo, known for delivering blockbusters. Their previous film, Akhanda, achieved remarkable success, further raising expectations for this sequel.
In preparation for filming key sequences, Boyapati Srinu has scouted locations near Gudimetla Hills and the Krishna River region. As part of this process, the director visited Nandigama in NTR district on Monday. He examined the local settings and interacted with residents to assess the area’s suitability for shooting.
Meanwhile, some pivotal scenes for the movie have already been filmed at the Maha Kumbh Mela in Uttar Pradesh. Reports suggest that the scenes shot at this iconic religious gathering will play a crucial role in the film. Sources have revealed that Balakrishna’s introductory scene as a devoted follower of Lord Shiva was filmed at the Kumbh Mela. These sequences are expected to exude a divine essence, leaving audiences captivated.
The film, produced by Ram Achanta and Gopichand Achanta under the 14 Reels banner, is being made with an exceptionally high budget and state-of-the-art technology. Balakrishna’s youngest daughter, Tejaswini, is presenting the movie. Promising grandeur and spiritual depth, Akhanda-2 is set to release in theaters on September 25, 2025.
