Jagan's Bail Revocation: Key Developments in Raghurama Krishnam Raju's Petition at Supreme Court

In a significant development regarding the petition filed by Andhra Pradesh Deputy Speaker Raghurama Krishnam Raju for revoking the bail of YSR Congress Party leader Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Supreme Court has reassigned the case to a new bench. Previously under the purview of Justice Abhay Oka and Justice Pankaj Mittal, the case has now been assigned to a bench comprising Justice V.V. Nagarathna and Justice Satish Chandra Sharma.

During the proceedings, Raghurama Krishnam Raju’s counsel, Srinivasan, argued before the new bench that there had been no progress in the trial over the past 12 years. He alleged that even a single discharge application had not been disposed of in the last decade. Accusations of collusion between the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the accused were made, suggesting deliberate delays in the trial process.

Srinivasan further highlighted that five judges who previously presided over the case were transferred without issuing decisions on pending discharge applications. He claimed this indicated a conspiracy and called for the case to be transferred to another state for impartial proceedings. However, he acknowledged that the Supreme Court had earlier ruled out the possibility of such a transfer. Instead, he emphasized the need for a full-fledged trial to ensure justice.

On behalf of the CBI, its counsel requested additional time to present their arguments, acknowledging delays in the trial despite clear directives from the Supreme Court and High Court. Representing Jagan Mohan Reddy, senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi stated that the Andhra Pradesh High Court was already monitoring the case and that the matter remained pending before it.

Following these submissions, the bench deferred the hearing to the coming Monday for further arguments.
