Bangladeshi National Admits Assaulting Bollywood Actor Saif Ali Khan

A Bangladeshi national, identified as Mohammed Shariful Islam Shehzad, has confessed to assaulting Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan. The 30-year-old suspect was arrested yesterday near the Hiranandani Estate in Kasarvadavali, Thane, following an intensive 70-hour police operation.

According to authorities, senior officers interrogated Shehzad, asking him directly whether he was responsible for the attack on Saif Ali Khan. In response, the suspect reportedly admitted to the crime, saying, "Haan, maine hi kiya hai" (Yes, I did it).

The breakthrough in the case came after police received a tip-off from a labor contractor who provided critical information about Shehzad's whereabouts. Acting on this lead, nearly 100 officers were deployed to Thane, launching a search operation that lasted approximately seven hours. Shehzad, who had been hiding in a forested area, was eventually apprehended.

Investigations revealed that Shehzad, a Bangladeshi national, lacked the required documentation to reside in India. Police confirmed his nationality based on the evidence recovered during the operation. Officials also disclosed that Shehzad had been living in Mumbai for the past four months under the alias Bijoy Das.

Following his arrest, Shehzad was presented in court, which granted police custody for five days to facilitate further investigation.
