Protests Erupt Over ‘Game Changer’ in Karnataka, Demand for Ban Intensifies

Protests have erupted in Karnataka against the upcoming film ‘Game Changer’, directed by noted South Indian filmmaker Shankar and starring global star Ram Charan in the lead role. Scheduled for a grand worldwide release on January 10 as a Sankranti festival offering, the film's recently released trailer has received positive feedback. Fans are eagerly anticipating another mesmerizing performance from Ram Charan.

However, controversy has now surrounded the film due to its title being in English rather than Kannada. Some locals in Karnataka expressed their anger by vandalizing the film’s posters using spray paint. Reports suggest that their primary objection stems from the absence of a Kannada-language title. In response, the hashtag #BanGameChangerInKarnataka has gained traction across social media platforms.

Karnataka residents, known for their deep reverence for their language, have reportedly demanded that the film's title be translated into Kannada. This incident follows a series of recent protests in the state, where shopping malls and hotels faced attacks for displaying their names in English instead of Kannada.

In this context, ‘Game Changer’ and another upcoming film ‘Sankranthiki Vastunnam’ have become the latest targets of these protests. Protestors were reportedly seen defacing the posters of both films, which featured titles in English and Telugu, to express their displeasure. Videos of these acts have since gone viral on social media, further fueling the controversy.
