Raghu Rama Krishna Raju Custodial Torture Case: Tulasi Babu Fails to Appear for Inquiry

In a significant development in the Raghu Rama Krishna Raju custodial torture case, Kamepalli Tulasi Babu, an accused in the investigation, did not attend the police inquiry. Tulasi Babu, who is alleged to have tortured Raghu Rama Krishna Raju, wrote a letter to Prakasam district SP Damodar, requesting additional time as he was unable to attend the scheduled inquiry.

Tulasi Babu faces serious allegations of torturing Raghu Rama Krishna Raju by sitting on his chest during custody, despite the latter having undergone a heart operation. Raju had previously claimed that a tall, heavily built man weighing approximately 115 kilograms sat on his chest during his custody by the CID on the night of May 14, 2021. He identified the individual as Tulasi Babu based on information provided to him and expressed willingness to identify him during an inquiry, should permission be granted.

Meanwhile, Raghu Rama Krishna Raju wrote a letter to the district SP, requesting that Tulasi Babu’s plea for additional time be rejected, emphasizing the need for a prompt investigation.

In a related matter, the court dismissed the anticipatory bail petition filed by Dr. Prabhavati, the fifth accused in the case. Prosecution Joint Director Rajendra Prasad argued that instead of adhering to constitutional duties, Dr. Prabhavati allegedly colluded with the other accused. Considering these factors, the court denied her request for anticipatory bail.
