BJP Welcomes Visakha Dairy Chairman Adari Anand Kumar
Adari Anand Kumar, the Chairman of Visakha Dairy and a prominent businessman, officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday in Rajamahendravaram. He resigned from the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) earlier this month. Accompanied by ten directors and several supporters, Anand Kumar was welcomed into the party by BJP Andhra Pradesh President and Member of Parliament Daggubati Purandeswari, who draped the party scarf around him in a formal induction ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, Daggubati Purandeswari emphasized the importance of adhering to the party’s discipline and principles. Senior BJP leaders, including National Executive Member Somu Veerraju, MLA Vishnukumar Raju, former MLC PVN Madhav, East Godavari District President Bommula Dattu, and State Vice President Relangi Sridevi, were present at the event.
Adari Anand Kumar stated that he was inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's developmental initiatives and decided to join the BJP to contribute to its mission.
Background and Political Journey
Anand Kumar's switch to the BJP comes amidst an ongoing legislative inquiry led by Jyothula Nehru into alleged irregularities at Visakha Dairy. His resignation from the YSRCP and subsequent move to the BJP has raised eyebrows in political circles.
Before the 2019 elections, Adari Anand Kumar was a member of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and contested the Anakapalle Lok Sabha constituency as a TDP candidate but lost. He later joined the YSRCP and was appointed Chairman of the Andhra Pradesh Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Corporation (APMSMDC) in 2023. He contested the 2024 elections as the YSRCP candidate from the Visakhapatnam West Assembly constituency but was defeated by TDP's PGVR Naidu.
