AP FiberNet Chairman Warns Legal Action Against Ram Gopal Varma

The Andhra Pradesh FiberNet Corporation (AP FiberNet) Chairman, GV Reddy, addressed the media today, alleging financial irregularities during the previous state government's tenure. He claimed that ₹1.15 crore was unlawfully paid to filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma from FiberNet funds. GV Reddy disclosed that a legal notice was sent to Varma, giving him 15 days to repay the amount. He warned that legal action would be initiated against Varma if the repayment deadline is not met.

GV Reddy further alleged large-scale misappropriation of funds in AP FiberNet, stating that the previous government burdened the corporation with ₹12 crore in loans and ₹900 crore in unpaid dues. He accused the former administration of appointing unqualified individuals to FiberNet through illicit means.

According to GV Reddy, some of these individuals allegedly performed household tasks for YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leaders. He announced the termination of 410 employees who were found to have been appointed illegally.

GV Reddy emphasized that legal notices would also be issued to those responsible for the unlawful recruitments. He warned that those who resisted or protested would face salary recoveries and potential legal cases.
