Minister Seethakka Questions National Award for Pushpa

Telangana Minister Seethakka has strongly criticized the awarding of the National Award to actor Allu Arjun for his performance in the film Pushpa. Expressing her dissatisfaction, she questioned whether national recognition should be given to films glorifying smugglers. Speaking at an event today, she lamented that message-driven films like Jai Bhim failed to receive such honors, while films that portray police officers being stripped of their dignity were rewarded.

Seethakka urged the central government to reconsider the type of films it promotes. “How can a smuggler be portrayed as a hero, while the police officer attempting to curb smuggling is depicted as the villain?” she asked. The minister argued that such portrayals could encourage criminal behaviour and highlighted a recent incident where a person involved in two murders was apprehended at a theatre screening Pushpa 2.

She stressed the importance of creating meaningful films that inspire society. "Films with a humanitarian perspective are necessary," she remarked, adding that while cinema is a form of entertainment, the messages conveyed through it should be constructive. “Actors, producers, and directors should aim to elevate society through their work,” she concluded.
