Indian Pacer Bumrah Sets New Test Record in Australia

India’s star pacer Jasprit Bumrah delivered an exceptional performance in the third Test match between India and Australia at the Gabba, Brisbane. Bumrah played a pivotal role in dismissing Australia for 445 runs in their first innings by claiming six crucial wickets. He bowled 28 overs, conceding only 76 runs while dismantling the Australian batting lineup, emerging as India’s most effective bowler as others struggled.

Bumrah’s six-wicket haul marked his 12th five-wicket haul in Test cricket. He also set a historic milestone by becoming the fastest Asian and Indian bowler to take 50 Test wickets on Australian soil, achieving this feat in just 10 matches. Previously, India’s legendary cricketer Kapil Dev held the record, having reached the same milestone in 11 matches.

Bumrah now joins the ranks of iconic non-Asian bowlers like Lance Gibbs, Sydney Barnes, Harold Larwood, and Tom Richardson, who also took 50 wickets in 10 matches in Australia. The fastest bowler ever to reach this landmark in Australia remains England's Maurice Tate, who achieved it in only eight matches.
