Allu Arjun's Arrest Boosts Pushpa-2 Collections; Breaks RRR, KGF Records
Following the arrest and subsequent bail release of Icon Star Allu Arjun in connection with a stampede incident at the Sandhya Theatre during the premiere of Pushpa-2, the film's box office collections have surged significantly. According to the movie tracking portal ShockNilk, the film grossed over ₹75 crore globally on its second Sunday (December 15).
The Telugu version contributed ₹16 crore, while the Hindi version alone amassed ₹55 crore. The Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam versions collected smaller amounts. With these robust weekend earnings, Pushpa-2 crossed the ₹1,300-crore milestone worldwide within just 11 days of its release.
This accomplishment positions Pushpa-2 as the third-highest-grossing Indian film ever, surpassing RRR (₹1,230 crore) and KGF: Chapter 2 (₹1,215 crore). Currently, only Baahubali 2 (₹1,790 crore) and Aamir Khan's Dangal (₹2,070 crore) remain ahead. Industry analysts speculate that Pushpa-2 could overtake Baahubali 2 if its current box office trend continues.
Domestically, Pushpa-2 has earned over ₹900 crore within 11 days, with its Hindi version alone contributing more than ₹500 crore in net collections. The film, directed by Sukumar and starring Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil in lead roles, continues to dominate the global box office.
