Raghurama Krishna Raju Case: Court Hears Dr. Prabhavati's Anticipatory Bail Petition

In the custodial torture case involving Andhra Pradesh Assembly Deputy Speaker Raghurama Krishna Raju, government doctor Prabhavati has also been accused of wrongdoing. Allegations were raised that Dr. Prabhavati manipulated the medical report after Raghurama Krishna Raju was examined by a medical team following his CID custody.

In this context, Dr. Prabhavati filed an anticipatory bail petition in the Guntur district court. The court took up the petition for hearing today, during which Raghurama Krishna Raju’s lawyer, Lakshminarayana, filed an implead petition.

In his submission, Lakshminarayana stated that Raghurama had been subjected to third-degree custodial torture and suffered severe injuries on both legs, including visible swelling. He alleged that Dr. Prabhavati provided a report that contradicted these facts and accused her of being complicit in an attempted murder case against Raghurama.

Lakshminarayana further argued that Raghurama had undergone bypass surgery in the past, and despite his condition, he was physically assaulted, with blows delivered to his chest. He claimed that Dr. Prabhavati deliberately omitted these crucial details in her medical report. Consequently, he urged the court not to grant anticipatory bail to Dr. Prabhavati.
