Andhra Pradesh Legislature Adopts 'NeVA' for Digital Governance
In a significant step towards paperless governance, the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council have joined the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA), a digital platform developed by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs. This initiative aims to conduct legislative activities in a fully digital format.
The formal agreement for this transition was signed on Monday at an event in Delhi. Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council Chairman Moshen Raju, Assembly Speaker Ayyanna Patrudu, Deputy Speaker Raghurama Krishnam Raju, and Secretary of Parliamentary Affairs Umang Narula were present. Representing Andhra Pradesh, Assembly Secretary General Suryadevara Prasanna Kumar and Additional Secretary of Parliamentary Affairs Satyaprakash signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
NeVA, launched by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, seeks to integrate the digital operations of the Parliament, 31 state legislatures, and 6 legislative councils onto a single digital platform. Legislators in Andhra Pradesh will receive tablets as part of the implementation, enabling seamless digital legislative processes similar to the Parliament's system. Once operational, all legislative proceedings will be conducted digitally.
The application provides each legislator with a personalized dashboard to monitor and manage their activities in the house efficiently.
