Ram Gopal Varma Missing; Police Hunt Across Telangana and Tamil Nadu

Renowned filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has reportedly gone missing after being summoned for questioning by the police. The controversy began ahead of the elections when Varma shared morphed photos of political leaders N. Chandrababu Naidu, Pawan Kalyan, and Nara Lokesh on social media, accompanied by derogatory comments. Cases were registered against him under various sections of the law.

Despite being served two notices to appear for questioning, Varma failed to comply. Yesterday, he was expected to attend an inquiry at Ongole Rural Police Station but did not show up and has since gone incommunicado.

Meanwhile, Ongole police visited Varma’s residence in Hyderabad, suspecting he might evade questioning. Reports suggested that the police went to arrest him, but his staff informed them that he was not at home. As a result, the search has expanded to Telangana and Tamil Nadu.

Varma’s legal team has requested that he be allowed to participate in the investigation virtually, but the police have declined. On another note, the Andhra Pradesh High Court is scheduled to hear Varma’s anticipatory bail petition today.
