'Matka' First Day Box Office Collections - Lowest in Varun Tej's Career!

The film 'Matka,' starring Varun Tej and directed by Karuna Kumar, released on November 14th, with Meenakshi Chaudhary as the female lead. Unfortunately, the movie failed to captivate audiences with its promotional material, leading to a weak opening. 

From the very first show, 'Matka' garnered negative reviews, which heavily impacted its initial box office collections. According to trade sources, the film managed to collect only around ₹75 lakhs globally on its opening day.

Given that 'Matka' was made on a high budget with a period backdrop, distributors and exhibitors were reportedly surprised at the low earnings across 1,761 screenings on its first day. Following 'Gaddalakonda Ganesh,' Varun Tej has been seeking a significant commercial success, but 'Matka's' poor collections indicate another setback for him.

 Analysts have pointed out that even overseas, the film's collections were dismal. Varun Tej’s recent films such as 'Operation Ghani,' 'Gandeevadhari Arjuna,' and 'Operation Valentine' were also box office disasters.
