Ravela Kishore quits BJP, likely to join TDP in Mahanadu
Vijayawada, May 16: Andhra Pradesh BJP vice-president Ravela Kishore Babu on Monday tendered resignation to his post and forwarded his resignation letter to BJP president Somu Veerraju. He cited personal reasons for quitting the BJP.
Ravela, who served as minister in the TDP government from 2014 to 2017, had contested on Jana Sena ticket in 2019 elections and lost to YSRCP opponent Mekathoti Sucharita. Later, he joined the BJP.
For the last one year, he was in touch with key TDP leaders. Ravela already met TDP national president N. Chandrababu Naidu on several occasions and he reportedly expressed his willingness before him to rejoin the TDP.
According to sources, he will join the TDP in the presence of Chandrababu during Mahanadu to be held on May 27 and 28 in Ongole. It is not clear as to whether he got an assurance from the TDP chief to contest from Prathipadu Assembly constituency in 2024.
