India Misses Out in 2025 Time 100 Influential People List

The globally renowned Time Magazine has released its annual list of the 100 most influential people for the year 2025. The list features several international luminaries including United States President Donald Trump and Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

Notably, unlike last year when Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt and wrestler Sakshi Malik represented India, no Indian personality has been included in this year’s list. This absence has drawn attention, highlighting the lack of Indian representation in the influential roster for 2025.

However, Reshma Kewalramani, a woman of Indian origin, has secured a place in the “Leaders” category of the list. She currently serves as the CEO of Vertex Pharmaceuticals. Kewalramani migrated to the United States with her family at the age of 11. She completed her education in the United States and rose to prominence as the first woman CEO of a major biotechnology company in the country.

Time Magazine emphasized Reshma Kewalramani’s leadership role in obtaining the first-ever approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for a CRISPR-based therapy that repairs patient DNA to treat sickle cell disease. Jason Kelly, the writer, stated that leaders like Kewalramani would play a critical role in discovering future cures through DNA-based treatments.

In the “Leaders” category, alongside Reshma Kewalramani, other global figures include United Kingdom Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Nobel laureate and Bangladesh’s interim government advisor Muhammad Yunus, and United States Vice President JD Vance.
