Sai Sudharsan beats legends, enters IPL record books
He played a crucial role in Gujarat's impressive total of 217 runs in 20 overs. This stellar knock helped him achieve a major milestone in IPL history. With this innings, Sai Sudharsan has become the second-highest run-scorer in IPL history after 30 innings, amassing a total of 1,307 runs.
Only Shaun Marsh, with 1,338 runs, is ahead of him. Sai Sudharsan has surpassed renowned players such as Chris Gayle (1,141), Kane Williamson (1,096), and Matthew Hayden (1,082), who now follow him in the rankings. Furthermore, Sai Sudharsan is the only Indian player in IPL history to have scored more than 50 runs in five consecutive matches at the same venue.
After the match, Sai Sudharsan commented, “Initially, the ball was swinging on the pitch. Facing Jofra Archer’s bowling felt a bit challenging. But later, we understood the nature of the pitch and adapted our batting accordingly. Our actual target was to score 15 more runs, but still, I believe we did quite well.”
