Sushant Singh Rajput Case Closed: CBI Submits Closure Report

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has concluded its investigation into the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput and submitted its closure report to the court. Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead by hanging at his residence in Bandra, Mumbai, on June 14, 2020. The incident sparked nationwide attention at the time.

After the case was handed over to the CBI, the agency conducted a nearly four-year-long investigation, exploring multiple angles. The CBI submitted reports in two cases: one involving allegations made by Sushant Singh Rajput’s father against Rhea Chakraborty and another involving allegations made by Rhea Chakraborty against Sushant’s family.

The CBI concluded that there was no evidence to support the claim that Sushant Singh Rajput was driven to suicide.

Initially, Mumbai police registered the case as a suicide. However, following allegations from Sushant's family against Rhea Chakraborty, the Bihar government recommended that the case be transferred to the CBI. On August 19, 2020, the Supreme Court directed the CBI to take over the investigation.

Medical experts from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) confirmed that Sushant Singh Rajput’s death was a suicide, not a homicide.

The CBI has submitted its report to a special court in Mumbai. The court will now decide whether to accept the report or order further investigation.
