KTR Urges States to Unite Against Lok Sabha Delimitation Proposal

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) has stated that history will not forgive if the issue of Lok Sabha constituency delimitation, which is detrimental to the southern states, is not questioned. KTR made these remarks after attending an all-party meeting organized by the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) in Chennai to discuss the injustice caused by the proposed delimitation to the southern states.
Speaking after the meeting, KTR called for unity among all states on the issue of Lok Sabha constituency delimitation. He alleged that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government at the Centre is showing bias against the southern states. Expressing concern, he pointed out that the delimitation process could result in a reduction of constituencies in Telangana.
KTR emphasized that increasing seats based solely on population would be against the spirit of federalism. He argued that following this approach would cause significant harm, particularly to states that are leading in the country’s development. According to him, adopting the delimitation policy in this manner could lead to excessive centralization of power, potentially steering the nation towards authoritarianism.
