Central Government Issues Key Advisory for Indian Students Studying in the U.S.

The Central Government of India has issued crucial guidelines for Indian students studying in the United States, amid significant policy changes implemented by President Donald Trump since taking office. These measures particularly target immigrants, emphasizing stricter enforcement of U.S. immigration laws.
The advisory highlights that decisions related to visas and immigration policies fall under the sovereign authority of individual countries. Therefore, it is the responsibility of students to adhere to the applicable regulations. The Central Government has urged Indian students in the U.S. to comply with American laws during their studies.
The government also assured that in case of any difficulties, Indian students can seek assistance from Indian embassies and consulate offices in the United States.
Foreign Secretary Randhir Jaiswal remarked, “When foreigners come to our country, we expect them to abide by our laws and regulations. Similarly, when our citizens are in foreign countries, they must respect and follow the laws and rules of those nations.”
The advisory follows recent warnings from President Trump stating that federal funding would be withheld from colleges and universities that permit illegal protests. Furthermore, individuals participating in such protests could face imprisonment or deportation to their home countries.
The Indian government’s advisory aims to provide clarity and guidance to students navigating the evolving immigration landscape under the Trump administration.
