Pawan Kalyan Meets Chandrababu After Cabinet Meeting; Several Decisions Taken

The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, has concluded. Following the meeting, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan visited Chandrababu Naidu’s chamber for a private discussion.
During the cabinet session, several key decisions were approved. The ministers endorsed an amendment bill to regulate teachers' transfers. Additionally, the cabinet approved the recommendations of the subcommittee on land allocations in the capital region.
The government has decided to provide free electricity up to 200 units for weavers’ households and up to 500 units for looms. The cabinet also granted private university status to Vignan’s VIT University in Namburu. Approval was given for the establishment of renewable energy plants in Anantapur and Sri Sathya Sai districts. Several land allocation proposals for various institutions were also sanctioned.
The cabinet approved the report submitted by Rajeev Ranjan Mishra on Scheduled Caste (SC) categorization. While the commission recommended considering the state as a single unit for categorization, some MLAs proposed district-wise classification. After discussions, the cabinet decided to follow the 2011 census for categorization at the state level and to consider district-wise classification only after the 2026 census. A resolution will be passed in the Assembly and sent to the National SC Commission.
The cabinet also decided to pass a resolution to include the Budaga Jangam community and another caste in the Scheduled Tribes (ST) list. Additionally, it was decided to rename YSR district as "YSR Kadapa district" and to remove the YSR name from the Tadigadapa municipality in Penamaluru.
