Andhra Pradesh Heatwave Alert: 202 Mandals to Experience Extreme Temperatures Today

The summer heat in Andhra Pradesh has intensified, with temperatures surpassing 42°C even before the end of March. The extreme heat has caused concern among residents, and meteorologists warn that temperatures are expected to rise further in the coming days.
According to Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) Managing Director Kurmanath, severe heatwave conditions are expected today in 202 mandals across the state. In particular, 15 mandals in Vizianagaram, 12 in Parvathipuram Manyam, and 8 in Srikakulam are predicted to experience extreme heatwave conditions.
Additionally, heatwave conditions are expected in 19 mandals each in Palnadu and East Godavari, 16 in Anakapalli, 16 in Srikakulam, 15 in Kakinada, 14 in Guntur, 13 in Eluru, 10 each in Krishna and Vizianagaram, 9 each in Alluri Sitarama Raju and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema districts, 8 in NTR district, 3 each in Parvathipuram Manyam and West Godavari, 2 in Visakhapatnam, and 1 mandal in Bapatla. Authorities have urged residents to remain cautious and avoid going outside unless absolutely necessary.
Yesterday, the highest recorded temperature in the state was 42.1°C in Nathavaram, Anakapalli district. Other high temperatures recorded include 41.8°C in Pedanandipadu, Vizianagaram district; 41.4°C in Rudravaram, Nandyal district; 41.4°C in Gollavidipi, Prakasam district, and Laddagiri, Kurnool district; and 41°C in Pachipenta and Ayyappapeta, Parvathipuram Manyam district.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely and have advised people to take precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses.
