AP Government Announces Awards for MPs and MLAs for Raising Public Issues
According to official sources, the government has decided to confer awards on MPs and MLAs who raise public concerns and fight for their resolution in the Assembly and Parliament. The initiative is intended to be non-partisan, with awards being granted irrespective of political affiliations. The objective is to motivate elected representatives to interact more closely with the public and bring their issues to legislative platforms.
As per the plan, those who effectively voice public grievances in the Assembly will receive the "Uttama Legislator" award, while those who advocate for public concerns in Parliament will be honored with the "Uttama Parliamentarian" award. The selection process for these awards will consider the performance and conduct of members within the legislative houses.
To ensure a fair and structured selection, the government is reportedly setting up a special committee to evaluate MPs and MLAs based on their engagement with public issues. This committee will then finalize the awardees.
