Kakinada Shocker: Man Kills Sons, Hangs Himself Over Academic Concerns

A shocking incident occurred in Subba Rao Nagar, Kakinada, on the day of Holi. A father, believing that his children would not be able to cope with the pressures of a competitive world, allegedly killed them before ending his own life.

According to police reports, Vanapalli Chandrakishore, a native of Tadepalligudem in West Godavari district, was working as an assistant accountant at the ONGC office in Vakalapudi, Kakinada. He lived in an apartment with his wife, Tanuja, and their two sons—seven-year-old Joshil, who was in first grade, and six-year-old Nikhil, who was in upper kindergarten. Concerned about his children’s academic performance, Chandrakishore had recently changed their school.

On the day of the incident, Chandrakishore attended a Holi celebration at his office with his family. Later, he told his wife that he was taking the children to a tailor to measure their school uniforms and would return in ten minutes. However, when he did not return for a long time, Tanuja grew suspicious and tried calling him. When he did not answer, she went to their apartment with some colleagues.

Finding the door locked, she peered through the window and saw Chandrakishore hanging from a ceiling fan. They broke open the door and discovered the children with their hands and legs tied, their heads submerged in buckets of water. Overcome with shock, Tanuja collapsed upon seeing the horrific scene.

Police recovered a suicide note in which Chandrakishore allegedly stated that he believed his children could not cope with the pressures of today's competitive world and had no future. The police have registered a case and are conducting an investigation.
