Jio and Airtel Introduce New Recharge Plans Benefiting Users
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has prompted major telecom companies Jio and Airtel to launch new recharge plans catering specifically to users focused on voice and SMS services. These plans eliminate the need for customers to pay extra for mobile data when it is not required. Analysts believe this move will benefit a large number of users across the country.

In compliance with TRAI's directive issued on December 23, 2024, Jio and Airtel have introduced these "voice-only" recharge plans. These plans are now available on both companies' official websites and are designed to meet the needs of users who do not require mobile data. TRAI highlighted that such plans would be particularly useful for feature phone users and individuals who use multiple SIM cards.
Jio Voice-Only Plans

Under the "voice-only" category, Jio has rolled out two recharge options: ₹458 and ₹1,958.

The ₹458 plan offers unlimited domestic calling, 1,000 free SMS, and access to Jio Cinema and Jio TV apps for 84 days. This plan does not include mobile data.
The ₹1,958 plan is valid for 365 days, providing unlimited domestic calls and 3,600 free SMS, but excludes mobile data.

Airtel Voice-Only Plans

Similarly, Airtel has introduced two plans under this category: ₹509 and ₹1,999.

The ₹509 plan includes unlimited domestic calls and 900 free SMS for 84 days.
The ₹1,999 plan offers unlimited calling and 3,600 free SMS with a validity of one year. Like Jio's offerings, these plans do not include mobile data.
