India Clinches First T20 Match with Abhishek Sharma's Explosive Knock

India secured a dominant win in the first T20 match of the five-match series against England, registering a seven-wicket victory at Kolkata's Eden Gardens. Chasing a modest target of 133, India completed the task in just 12.5 overs, losing only three wickets.

Young opener Abhishek Sharma was the star of the match, smashing a scintillating 79 runs off 34 balls. His fiery innings included five boundaries and eight towering sixes, dismantling England’s bowling attack featuring experienced players like Jofra Archer, Mark Wood, and Adil Rashid.

Fellow opener Sanju Samson contributed a solid 26 runs, while Tilak Varma (19 not out) and Hardik Pandya (3 not out) ensured a comfortable finish after Sharma’s dismissal. Among the English bowlers, Jofra Archer picked up two wickets, while Adil Rashid claimed one.

Earlier, England, batting first after losing the toss, managed to post 132 runs before being bowled out in 20 overs. With this win, India leads the series 1-0. The second T20 match is scheduled to be held at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on January 25.
