Jasprit Bumrah Denies Speculations About Missing Champions Trophy Due to Injury
In response, Bumrah took to social media platform 'X' (formerly Twitter) to address the speculations. He refuted the claims, stating they were baseless. “It’s easy to spread fake news, but this made me laugh. Information needs to be credible,” Bumrah posted, accompanied by two laughing emojis.
These rumors surfaced after Bumrah left the field during the second innings of the Sydney Test in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. More recently, he was rested for the T20 and ODI series against England, leading to further speculation about his fitness and availability for the Champions Trophy.
Bumrah, however, has shown exceptional form recently. During the Test series against Australia, he claimed 32 wickets and was named Player of the Series. His stellar performance in December 2024, where he took 22 wickets across three Tests at an average of 14.22, earned him the Player of the Month award. Additionally, Bumrah has been nominated for the ICC Men's Test Cricketer of the Year award in the ICC Awards 2024.
